Flat Stanley

Many elementary school students do Flat Stanley projects which involve sending a little paper man to different cities and having him photographed in different locations. (In the book about Flat Stanley he gets flattened by a bulletin board and uses his flattened state to his advantage by traveling the world via envelope.) My cousin's daughter in Mississippi is doing a Flat Stanley project for class and decided to send Mr. Stanley to London to visit me. I tried to show him a good time and took some pics of him around the city. He saw Big Ben, the London Eye, Westminster Abbey, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. At the V&A he visited the National Art Library and also saw some beautiful sculpture, stained glass, and silver and gold crosses. Then he went to Liberty department store to shop for London-themed Christmas ornaments and Topshop to shop for unicorn and kangaroo onesies. He also enjoyed riding on the London Underground and thought the red telephone booths around the city were pretty awesome.

Liberty

Whenever I need cheering up, I just stop by Liberty. The store is full of wonderful treasures - flowers in jars, blankets and scarves in beautiful prints, the best holiday decorations, glittery masks, cat and rabbit lamps, yarn in an array of gorgeous hues, and of course Liberty printed fabrics!

Bank sighting

I spotted a bank today, and not the type of bank I normally see. I saw the London Sperm Bank! Love the discreet sign. Apparently they are the UK's leading provider of donor sperm and have around 10,000 vials in storage. Awesome!

I got curious about this place and searched the "new arrivals" section of their website. New donors include a caucasian police officer with hazel eyes and blonde hair, a Polish psychologist with green eyes and dark brown hair, and many more. Check 'em out if you're interested, ladies!

New friend

I bought this Dracula plushie at Waitrose. Couldn't resist the combination of ferocity + cuteness.

Random sculpture

Spotted these random shoes with plants and flowers growing out of them in front of Senate House Library. Some kind of art project I guess? There were also other objects scattered around, including a stuffed fox and a typewriter. Hmm...

Meringa con panna al frutto della passione

Love this dessert at Carluccio's - meringue with a passion fruit cream, fresh raspberries, and raspberry coulis. Delicious!

Christmas treats already?!

It's great to see Halloween treats in the stores, but isn't it a bit early for Christmas treats, Marks & Spencer?! I do like chocolate "Bubbly Santas" and white chocolate "Santa's Beards," however. And those Christmas tree cookies are too cute.

Halloween treats

Marks & Spencer has the best Halloween treats. I love seeing what they come up with every year. This year it's poisonous scorpions, spooky ghosts and vampire bats, haunted heads, scaredy cats, and gruesome body parts!
