Giant Robot

One of my favorite restaurants in London is Giant Robot on Clerkenwell Rd.  Love their pancakes and retro decor! And the waiters are really charming. :-)

AA projects review exhibition

I went to the AA projects review exhibition on June 17.  Loved the adaptive ecologies projects of the Diploma 16 unit and the ornament designs by the Diploma 13 unit.  The ornament designs took inspiration from Owen Jones's The Grammar of Ornament (1856) and proposed ideas for a new kind of ornament for the 21st century.  Some pics are below.

rose water & clotted cream ice cream

Goodenough College (where I live) has recently started serving ice cream, and some of the flavors are quite interesting.  My personal favorites: rose water and clotted cream! lol.

Amon Tobin + Tessa Farmer at the Crypt Gallery

Electronic music pioneer Amon Tobin collaborated with contemporary artist Tessa Farmer on an amazing exhibition at the Crypt Gallery in St. Pancras Church.  Farmer's sculptures are constructed from bits of organic material (roots, dead insects, bones), and Amon Tobin similarly rearranges natural elements to make something both imagined and tangible.  Tobin was actually at the Crypt Gallery, so he signed my copy of his new album ISAM!

As an amusing side note, my boyfriend got one of the large insects stuck to his baseball cap.  Tessa Farmer was present, so he pulled the insect off his cap and gave her back the piece of her artwork.

The best present in the world

This giant panda bear made it from NYC to London!  (see post below for further details)  His name is Maximus (meaning greatest in Latin), and his nickname is Max.  Sooo cute!

Panda!

My boyfriend James and his friend Rob came across a very cute panda on the subway platform in New York City. The poor panda was lost and all alone.

So they comforted him and bought him a drink!

And then they took him all around New York City!

They went everywhere...

The panda even took them to where he used to live!

He told them that he could no longer afford his room at the Plaza Hotel...

So my boyfriend convinced him to come back to London to let me take care of him! :-)
